The regions

Twenty regions, twenty grapes that grow only here.

In no other country is the variety of native grapes this wide. Every berry in the Grapes mark stands for a region: the map below is read region by region.

Grape

Tintilia

Molise

The only native grape of Molise. It grows above 500 metres and has never left.

Why native varieties

A heritage that does not travel

A native variety is one that has adapted to a territory over centuries and that elsewhere, quite simply, does not give the same result. Italy has hundreds of them in cultivation: that is why two bottles produced two hundred kilometres apart can have nothing in common.

It is also why a catalogue ordered by price says very little. Ordered by territory and by variety, on the other hand, it says something: the altitude, the cold, the volcanic rock, the sea wind.
